The first stop of the Palace-on-Wheels is Jaipur, one of the most well planned cities of the world of its time. This capital city of Rajasthan, popularly known as the Pink City, was founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, in 1727 A.D. To explore the city, an air-conditioned coach takes you to Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds, which is a remarkable five storeyed building on the main street of the old city in pink splendor with semi-octagonal and delicate honey combed sandstone windows.

Day 08 : Patna - Vaishali - Kushinagar
Morning leave Patna for Kushinagar (253 kms / 8 hrs) en-route visiting Vaishali -located 60 kms from Patna and holds special significance for Buddhist devotees. Kushinagar is the place where Buddha passed into Maha-Parinirvana. Afternoon visit Kushinagar the various stupas and temples. Overnight at hotel. 

Day 09 : Kushinagar - Lumbini - Sravasti
Leave Kushinagar by road for Lumbini (170 kms / 4-5 Hrs) - the birthplace of Buddha and is located just a few kilometres inside Nepal. 

Day l0 : Balarampur - Sahet Mahet - Lucknow - Delhi

Morning excursion to Amber - capital of the old state of Dhundhar, located on the rugged hills that surround Jaipur. Day 05 : Thanjavur - Trichy - Maduari

Day 02 : New Delhi - Lucknow (by train) 
This morning city tour of old and New Delhi. In the afternoon we will drive to the railway station for the train to Lucknow. Overnight in Train.
Day 03 : Lucknow - Sravasti (about 170 km) 
Upon arrival in Lucknow, we will drive further to Sravasti. Sravasti (ancient Savatthi) was the capital of Kosala Mahajanapada and was the biggest town in the Gangetic plains during the Buddha's lifetime. Sravasti was host to the Master for 25 year during the annual vassavasa (rain retreat) when the Sangha congregated at one place. Sravasti is situated in Gonda district in eastern Uttar Pradesh called Sahet-Mahet. In Sravasti we visit the famous monastery where Lord Buddha spent 24 rainy seasons preaching.

Day 04 : Sravasti - Kushinagar (about 380 km)
Today in the morning drive from Sravasti to Kushinagar. Kushinagar is the place that the Buddha chose for his Mahaparinirvana, or final exit from this earth. Kushinagar or Kushinara as it was then known was the capital of the Malla Republic, one of the republican states of northern India during the 6th and 5th centuries BC. There are several new monasteries and temples
Day 05 : Kushinagar - Patna (about 253 km)
In the morning after having breakfast we drive further to Patna. Patna, the was thriving township ancient Indian town of Pataliputra was thriving townshipduring the Buddha's lifetime. Patna, the state capital of Bihar is situated on the banks of the Ganga. It is the major Entry point for pilgrims who wish to travel in the footsteps of the Buddha. 
Day 06 : Patna
Today after having breakfast we have sightseeing in Patna. Today we visit Patna Sahib,The British Museum, Golghar, Patna established the Patna Museum in the year 1917. This museum has more than 50,000 rare and valuable antiquities and art objects. 
Day 07 : Patna - Nalanda - Rajgir (about 100 km) 
In the morning after having breakfast we drive to Rajgir. Enroute we visit Nalanda, the ancient Buddhist University. During the lifetime of the Buddha Rajgir (Rajgriha) was the capital of the powerful Magadhan Kingdom, ruled by the virtuous king Bimbisara. Rajgir is about 100 km from Patna.
Day 08 : Rajgir -Bodhgaya (about 70 km) 
In the morning after having breakfast we drive to Bodhgaya. Bodhgaya (once Uruvela village) is the place where 2500 years ago in the 6th century BC, a young ascetic, Siddhartha attained enlightenment to become the Buddha and found Buddhism one of the world's oldest religions. Bodhgaya is the spiritual home of the Buddhists.
Day 09 : Bodhgaya -Varanasi (about 242 km) 
In the morning we drive further to Varanasi. Varanasi is without doubt India's most sacred city and thus visited by over one million people. Varanasi is also called the city of light -Kashi or Benaras. Buddha visited this city in 500 BC. Varanasi is regarded one of the oldest and the holiest city. According to the Indian chronicles, Varanasi was established as a city around twelve hundred years ago before the Christian era. 

Day 10 : Varanasi
In the early morning we take boat -ride on the holy River Ganges and enjoy sunrise on the boat. Ghats (flight of steps) and the activities of pilgrims on that, are the principal attraction for visitors to Varanasi.
Day 11 : Varanasi - New Delhi (by air)
In the afternoon we drive to the airport for the flight out from Varanasi to New Delhi. In New Delhi we have rest of the day at leisure.

This truly is the most remarkable way of seeing Northern India. The discovery begins in the grandeur of Delhi with its imperial buildings and tree lined avenues, before travelling to Lucknow, scene of the great siege of 1857. We continue our journey with the spiritual aspects of India, visiting Varanasi, situated on the banks of the holy river Ganges, Khajuraho with its wonderful carvings, and Orchha steeped in Bundela architecture. By train to Agra, where our two visits to the Taj Mahal allow us to see the many faces of this magical monument, We head west to The 'Pink City' of Jaipur via the bird sanctuary at Bharatpur, one of Asia's leading bird sanctuaries, and a must for any ornithologist. In Jodhpur the ancient streets cluster around the magnificent Meherangarh Fort, and while staying in the small village of Luni we enjoy the contrasts of village India. After driving through some of Rajasthan's most scenic and dramatic landscapes we arrive in Udaipur, with its incomparably romantic surroundings. To Bombay, where the bustle is a marked contrast to the serenity of rural India, and impressive gothic architecture stands juxtaposed with the sights and sounds that capture the essence of India.

Day 02 : Delhi – Board overnight train to Varanasi
Morning leave for sight-seeing tour, which includes visit to Jama Masjid - the largest mosque of Emperor Shahjahan. Later proceed to Raj Ghat- cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi, to India Gate - a 42 meter stone arch built in the memory of the Indian Soldiers who died in World War I, Drive past the President's House & Parliament House, and the Qutab Minar. Evening board train to Varanasi.

Day 03 : Delhi – Board Overnight train to Varanasi
Arrive Varanasi in the morning. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. Afternoon visit Sarnath, near Varanasi is the place where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon. Evening watch “Aarti” at River Ganges. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 04 : Varanasi
Early morning boat ride on river Ganges to see the Bathing & Cremation Ghats. Come back for the breakfast at hotel. Later leave for city tour of Varanasi visiting Bharat Mata temple, Tulsi Manas, Banaras Hindu University etc. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 05 : Varanasi - Khajuraho
Morning free for leisure. Later transfer to the Airport to connect flight for Khajuraho. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. Later visit the famous erotic temples of Khajuraho built between AD 950 and 1050 by the kings of the Chandela, the site originally possessed 85 temples, of which 20 are still reasonably preserved. The temples are best known for the erotic friezes on their walls.

Day 06 : Khajuraho - Orchha - Jhansi - Agra
Morning free for own activities. Later drive to Jhansi (approx 170 kms / 5 hrs). Enroute visit Orchha Temples, the 16th Century temples well know for its art works. Upon arrival connect train # 2001 New Delhi Shatabdi Express dep. at 17:56 hrs arrive Agra at 20:25 hrs. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 01 : Arrive Mumbai
The commercial capital of India. Depending upon the arrival time it may be necessary to hold the accommodation from previous night as check in and check out time is 12 noon in most of the hotels. Half day time permits visiting The Gateway of INDIA and the chief entry port of India is a largest industrial centre and is most cosmopolitan city in the east. With it's beautiful natural horbour , studied with emerald islands and palm fringed shore which - rises gradually to the mountain peaks. It is one of the finest waterfronts. Highlights of the city sightseeing includes Gateway of India, Hanging gardens, Prince of Wales Museum, The bustling Crawford Market, Flora Fountain and the Dhobhi Ghat - a vast outdoor laundry.

Day 02 : Mumbai - Aurangabad
Transfer to Mumbai airport in time to connect flight to Aurangabad, check in to hotel. Afternoon sight seeing of Ellora Caves: About 18 miles away from the city of Aurangabad -a group of rock temples - possess a magnificient series of Buddhist, Brahmanical and Jain temples of the 9th Century A.D. Kailash Temple, hewn out of a single rock, carved with life size figures of gods and goddesses, is a wonder. (Ellora caves closed on all Tuesday).

Day 03 : Aurangabad
After breakfast full day tour of Ajanta caves: Hewn out of rocks richly sculptured and with walls ceilings and pillars adomed with fresco paintings depict the life of Buddha. These cave picture galleries are unique in the history of art and date from the 22nd Century B.C. to the 7th Century A.D. (Ajanta caves closed on all Mondays).

Day 04 : Aurangabad - Shirdi
After breakfast leave by surface for Shirdi (125 Kms/3 hrs) - (en route) visit Daulatabad Fort, this hilltop fortress was built in 1187, Mohammad Tughlak ( The mad Sultan of Delhi) who shifted his capital here. On arrival check in to Hotel and overnight at Hotel.

Afternoon city sightseeing visiting the City Palace Museum (still houses the erstwhile royal family) Jantar Mantar - the Royal Observatory and Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) -built for the royal ladies to watch the activities on the market street below without being observed themselves.

Day 05 : Jaipur - Agra
Depart for Agra (232 kms/5 hrs) en-route visiting Fatehpur Sikri -the imperial ruins of the dream capital city of the great Mughal Emperor -Akbar.

Day 06 : Agra - Delhi / Back to home
Visit Taj Mahal in the morning. Nothing neither photographs nor descriptions can prepare you for the experience of this monument -the tomb of Mumtaz Mahal called Taj Mahal. Here the cherished companion of Emperor Shah Jahan was laid to rest. It is an acclaimed architectural masterpiece and one of the seven wonders of the world. Afternoon visit Agra Fort.

» Ranthambore : Ranthambore is a dry deciduous forest with rocky hill crests and open valleys dotted with water pools and fruit trees. The one thousand year old Ranthambore fortress looms above the forest. The famous Mahabodhi temple, which stands in the centre of the Mahabodhi Temple complex has been restored and rebuilt over the centuries. The Mahabodhi Temple Complex houses all the major pilgrimage spots. A large circular stone with the Buddha's footprints is kept in a small shrine on the left. We also visit the Bodhgaya museum that is located near the Mahabodhi temple. It houses antiquities excavated in and around Bodhgaya. It has a large collection of Buddhist and Hindu relies (terra cotta) seals, scriptures and pillars from the Sunga period.

Leave Balrampur for Lucknow enroute visit Sravasti ( Sahet-Mahet) capital of the ancient kingdom of Kosala, an active centre for Buddhism. Overnight in Lucknow.

Day 01 : Flight to India (New Delhi)

Day 02 : New Delhi - Lucknow (by train)
This morning city tour of old and New Delhi. In the afternoon we will drive to the railway station for the train to Lucknow. Overnight in Train.

Day 03 : Lucknow - Sravasti (about 170 km)
Upon arrival in Lucknow, we will drive further to Sravasti. Sravasti (ancient Savatthi) was the capital of Kosala Mahajanapada and was the biggest town in the Gangetic plains during the Buddha's lifetime. Sravasti was host to the Master for 25 year during the annual vassavasa (rain retreat) when the Sangha congregated at one place. Sravasti is situated in Gonda district in eastern Uttar Pradesh called Sahet-Mahet. In Sravasti we visit the famous monastery where Lord Buddha spent 24 rainy seasons preaching.

Day 04 : Sravasti - Kushinagar (about 380 km)
Today in the morning drive from Sravasti to Kushinagar. Kushinagar is the place that the Buddha chose for his Mahaparinirvana, or final exit from this earth. Kushinagar or Kushinara as it was then known was the capital of the Malla Republic, one of the republican states of northern India during the 6th and 5th centuries BC. There are several new monasteries and temples. Today we visit the Rambhar Stupa that marks Buddha's cremation ground. Mahakashyapa lit the funeral prayer at Mukutabandha Vihara (Rambhar Stupa) in Kushinagar. Today not much remains of this stupa except a large brick mount rising to a height of almost 15 metres set within a well-kept park. We also visit the large Burmese Chandramani Bhikshu Bharamasala. This is the oldest monastery in Kushinagar. We will also visit the Kushinagar Museum.

Day 05 : Kushinagar - Patna (about 253 km)
In the morning after having breakfast we drive further to Patna. Patna, the was thriving township ancient Indian town of Pataliputra was thriving townshipduring the Buddha's lifetime. Patna, the state capital of Bihar is situated on the banks of the Ganga. It is the major entry point for pilgrims who wish to travel in the footsteps of the Buddha. Today we will drive to Kumrahar to see the ruins of Pataliputra which is about 6 km from Gandhi Maidan. The remains of a massive assembly hall with bases of 80 pillars have been excavated at the site, of which only one pillar remains intact.

Day 06 : Patna
Today after having breakfast we have sightseeing in Patna. Today we visit Patna Sahib,The British Museum, Golghar, Patna established the Patna Museum in the year 1917. This museum has more than 50,000 rare and valuable antiquities and art objects. The most prized possession here is the Holy Relic Casket containing the sacred ashes of the Buddha, unearthed in Vaishali. Golhar is a mammoth concrete granary built by the British, subsequent to the great famine of 1770. Two spiral staircases from either side lead to the top, which affords a panoramic view of the Ganga and the town. Gurudwara Har Mandir Sahib, popularly known as Patna Sahib is the sacred shrine of the Sikhs. The site is hallowed as the birthplace of the 10th Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh. Between Patna Sahib is Gulzarbagh, where the opium factory and the storehouses of the British were located. It now houses the Government Printing Press.

Day 07 : Patna - Nalanda - Rajgir (about 100 km)
In the morning after having breakfast we drive to Rajgir. Enroute we visit Nalanda, the ancient Buddhist University. During the lifetime of the Buddha Rajgir (Rajgriha) was the capital of the powerful Magadhan Kingdom, ruled by the virtuous king Bimbisara. Rajgir is about 100 km from Patna. This town attracts various pilgrims and tourists. The town also boasts the largest number of horse drawn carriages. Today we will visit the Vishwa Shanti Stupa. It is a marble structure with niches bearing golden images of the Buddha, built by the Nipponza Myohoji sect of Japan. Opposite the Stupa stands the Saddharma Buddha Vihara. Then we will drive further to Griddhakuta. The strange rock protrusion resembling a vulture's beak probably gave the hill its name. In the rock cut caves here the Buddha spent many rainy seasons, meditating and preaching. Rajgir is also famous for its seven hot Sulphur Springs, Satadhara. Satadhara is situated at the foot of Vaibhava Hill. The hot springs are a part of the Lakshmi Narayan Temple complex.

Hemkund is surround by seven snow covered peaks and their reflection in the bluish-green water is a picture to behold. The lake is a great pilgrimage place for the Sikhs. In the Guru Granath Sahib. Guru Govind Singh made a reference that in one of his previous births he had mediated on the shores of a lake which was surrounded by seven snow covered peaks. In 1930, Havildar Sohan Singh discovered this lake, and identified it with the one referred t in the Guru Granth Sahibji.

After breakfast, treak to Hemkund Sahib, 4239m above sea-level (5kms/3hrs). Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth guru of Sikhs, is believed to have mediated here in his previous birth. A gurdwara stands here in his memory on the bank of a sacred lake. Return to Ghangariya for dinner and overnight stay. 
Day 06 : Ghangariya - Valley of Flowers - Ghangariya 
After breakfast, trek to Valley of Flowers (4kms/2 ½ hrs), carrying packed lunch. Explore the valley and witness the rare Himalayan flora, i.e. Brahm Kamal (Saussurea Obvalata), Himalayan Blue Poppy (Meconnopsis Aculata) and many more. Return to Ghangariya for dinner and overnight stay. 
Day 07 : Ghangariya - Gonindghat - Joshimath

The idea is to give passengers every comfort they desire during their journey. Siddharth Gautam, born the son of a king, grew up in Kapilvastu amidst luxury and splendour. At the age of 29 he left earthly distraction behind, to begin his quest for the true meaning of life -a search that took him to the land of Magadha. At Bodhgaya, after years of penance and deprivation, he attained "Enlightenment" under the sacred Bodhi tree-to become Buddha. In the fabled deer park at Sarnath, the Buddha preached his first sermon. He then travelled widely preaching his philosophy. At the age of 80, in the forest of Kushinagar, he entered perfect tranquillity-the state of "Parinirvana." Lumbini, Bodhgaya, Sarnath, Kushinagar, Sravasti, Vaishali and Kapilvastu- these sacred places of Buddha continue the legacy of this remarkable being who practiced and preached peace, purity and love. Day 01 : Arrive Calcutta or Delhi
Half Day Sightseeing of the city. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02 : Calcutta/Delhi - Patna - Bodhgaya
Leave Calcutta/Delhi for Patna by air. Drive to Bodhgaya (125 kms. / 3 hrs.) where the Buddha attained enlightenment and which is one of the most sacred pilgrimage places for the Buddhist. Enroute visit Nalanda and Rajgir. Nalanda-a great center of Buddhist learning and one of the most famed university citadels of ancient times. Rajgir-it was once the ancient capital of the powerful kingdom of Maghada. From the out skirts of Rajgir, a historic road leads to Gridha - Kuta or vultures peak where the Buddha preached, here the first Buddhist Council was held after the Lord's Mahaparinirvana. 
Day 03 : Bodhgaya
Sightseeing of Bodhgaya. Here under the Bodhi Tree, Shakyamuni Gautama attained supreme knowledge to become Buddha, "the Enlightened one" the propounder of one of the great relegious of the world
Day 04 : Bodhgaya - Varanasi
Morning leave Bodhgaya for Varanasi (275 kms. / 7-8 hrs.) by Surface. Later, excursion to Sarnath the place Lord Buddha gave its sermon. Overnight in Varanasi. 

Day 05 : Varanasi - Kushinagar 
Early morning boat ride on the River Ganges to see the sun rise and the bathing ghats of an ancient Hindu city. Later, leave Varanasi for Kushinagar (250 kms. / 7-8 hrs.). Overnight in Kushinagar. 

Day 06 : Kushinagar - Lumbini
Morning visit Mahaparinirvana Temple and Ramabhar Stupa. Later drive to Lumbini by surface (170 kms. / 4 hrs.). Sightseeing of Lumbini where the Lord Buddha was born. Visit the pillar raised by Emperor Ashok, In the twenty first year after his coronation at the birthplace. Proceed to Balrampur (197 kms. / 6 hrs.).

Day 07 : Balrampur - Sravasti - Lucknow
Leave Balrampur for Lucknow enroute visit Sravasti ( Sahet-Mahet) capital of the ancient kingdom of Kosala, an active centre for Buddhism. Overnight in Lucknow. 

Day 08 : Lucknow - Delhi
Leave Lucknow for Delhi by air. Day at leisure. Half day sightseeing of Old and New Delhi visiting Red Fort, Jama Masjid

Day 09 : Delhi - Agra - Delhi
Full day excursion to Agra (208 kms / 4 hrs), city of the Taj Mahal. Also visit Agra Fort and Sikandra. Overnight in Delhi.

Day at leisure in Delhi 

Day 11 : Delhi - onward destination
Leave Delhi.

Day 04 : Puri
Morning visit the famous Jaganath Temple. Rest day is free to enjoy your holiday on the white sandy beaches of Puri. This famous pilgrimage destination is also known for its sparkling clean water and the stunning beaches. Overnight stay at the Hotel.

Day 05 : Puri
Day is free for shopping, relaxing on the beach or other vacation activities. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 06 : Puri - Bhubaneshwar - Calcutta
Drive to Bhubaneswar airport (6 kms. / 11/2 Hrs.) and connect flight for Calcutta. Evening our representative will assist you to connect your flight back to home.
